Lionsgate’s anthology action comedy FREAKY TALES is set to make its SVOD debut next month, arriving on HBO Max on August 8th, 2025. The film world premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before launching in US theaters on April 4th, 2025. It hit VOD and digital platforms on April 25th.

Additionally, the film will debut on HBO linear on SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Freaky Tales is written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Executive produced by hip-hop pioneer Too $hort, the film features an all-star ensemble including Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, Angus Cloud, and Tom Hanks.

Set in 1987 Oakland, Freaky Tales is a multi-track mixtape of colorful characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector — on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles.
